Wake
Forged steel salvaged from collapsed Georgia Pacific Mill | 32” x 10” x 4” | 2019
Created as part of a three work series for an exhibit and Perry Carlson Gallery in Mt Vernon, WA, this work abstractly represents the bow of a submerged oil tanker ship. The series is titled Relics and explores my region in three distinct aspects: Forest/resource, shoreline/material processing and bay/product export (this piece). This work explores the idea of the ever present oil tanker on our distant horizon as a “future relic” whose bulbous style bow emerges just above the water’s line. A homage to our region’s petroleum transport icon after the age fossil fuel export.
